President’s Message

Posted almost 8 years ago by Bala Kulandaivel

History has been made! A milestone has been set for Indian nurses in the State of Maryland. May 7th, 2016 was the day when we, the nurses of Indian heritage, came together to form Indian American Nurses Association of Maryland (IANAM). I congratulate all the members of IANAM for your enthusiasm and excitement! You are the strength behind the success of IANAM, and it is an honor and privilege to serve you all as its founding president.

IANAM is established to bring us together, to enrich our personal and professional growth, and to help us better serve our patients and communities with knowledge, caring, and compassion. IANAM, with the slogan "Nurses: Advocating, Leading & Caring", will uphold the spirit of Indian nurses in the United States as a professional body serving us individually, professionally, and as a community.

I invite all Indian American nurses and nursing students in Maryland to join IANAM and demonstrate your commitment to your profession, your fellow nurses, and your community. We need each one of you. As a newly launched professional organization, I need your support, dedication, and prayers to guide and lead IANAM.

As Mother Theresa said, "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." So, please join me in casting a stone across the waters and creating millions of ripples that change our world into a better one. Together, let us contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Dr. Alphonsa A Rahman, DNP, APRN-CNS, CCRN
